Reach More People with Planned Giving
As you build your legacy, think about the number of people you can help at the Tampa YMCA. Most monetary donations go toward scholarships for memberships as well as programs like summer camp, before and after school care and swim lessons. Everyone is welcome at the Y, and donations like yours help those who want to join and participate receive rates they can manage.
Help the Tampa Y continue our cause-driven mission well into future by planning your gift and receive a financial benefit. Planned gifts enable you to arrange contributions in ways that maximize your personal objectives while minimizing your after-tax cost.
Your bequest or beneficiary designation for the Tampa Y in your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance policy is a gift will keep giving and making a positive impact in the community. Support the mission and programs that you believe in long after your lifetime. Together, we can strengthen our community for generations.
Planned Gifts
You can make plans now for a future gift to the Tampa YMCA by including a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust. Bequests may be made as an outright gift or you can name the Tampa YMCA in your estate plan. For more information on making a bequest, please contact Candace Culver, Candace.Culver@tampaymca.org or call 813.224.9622.
Those who make a bequest to the Tampa Y are honored as Heritage Society members. Donors receive this special honor when they make outright gifts of $5,000 or more to the Tampa YMCA Endowment Fund, or make planned gifts of any size (trusts, will bequests, insurance, etc.) to the Tampa Y or a location for any use
The Impact of Your Donation
Many donors who plan gifts to the Y choose a location or program they have a personal connection to.
Programs like summer camp, Before & After School Enrichment and LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA often need funds to offer scholarships to individuals and families. The Tampa Y also offers scholarship for memberships for community members to join the Y and engage in exercise, swimming, child watch while parents work out or socialize and more.
Some donors wish to provide children with the same summer camp opportunities their family received. Others give to swim programs to help people of all ages learn important, life-saving swim lessons.
If it's important to you to give back to an organization that impacts your community, the Tampa Y is an organization of people who are welcoming, supportive and kind. If the Y has made an impact on your life, consider giving the same opportunities to future generations so we all can be happier, healthier and connected to one another.
Work with your professional advisors to determine the best planned giving options for you, your family and your philanthropic intentions.
Planned Giving Opportunities
Include the Tampa Y in your will or living trust for a flexible way to ensure we can continue our work for years to come. When you include a bequest to the Tampa Y in your will or living trust, your gift also entitles your estate to an unlimited federal estate tax charitable deduction.
One of the most simple ways to include the Y as a legacy gift is naming the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA in your assets including retirement plans and life insurance policies. Another benefit of beneficiary designations is the flexibility; donors can update their contributions at any time.
Donors can create a charitable gift annuity with the Tampa Y and in return, receive a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction.
The benefits of a charitable remainder trust include a partial charitable income tax deduction, potential for increased income and up-front capital gains tax avoidance. For those with you have built up a sizable estate and are looking for ways to receive reliable payments, set up a charitable remainder trust.
A charitable lead annuity trust pays a fixed amount each year to the Y and is more attractive when interest rates are low. A charitable lead unitrust pays a variable amount each year based on the value of the assets in the trust. Donors will save on taxes for supporting the Y, and also have assets for family to receive in the future.
Another option to consider is giving real estate to the Tampa YMCA. After owning a property for more than one year, donors can avoid capital gains tax, maintenance costs, property taxes and more. As a bonus, donors can avoid selling the real estate with this straightforward, mutually beneficial option.
Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Gifts to the Tampa YMCA in memory or tribute of loved is a way to honor their impact and connection with the Y. Often times, families request donations to their honorary fund be made in lieu of flowers. Gifts to your fund will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference in our community.
