Preparing Children for Kindergarten Success
The YMCA proudly offers Florida's FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program for eligible 4-year-olds. Children build the academic, social, emotional and independence skills needed for a successful transition to kindergarten.
WHAT IS VPK?
Florida's FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten Program
VPK is a free educational program funded by the State of Florida for children who are 4 years old on or before September 1.
WHY VPK At THE Y?
The goal of VPK is to prepare children academically and socially for kindergarten.
Children develop:
- Early Literacy Skills
- Language Development
- Math Readiness
- Problem Solving
- Social Skills
- Independence
- Self-Regulation
Children build the academic, social, emotional and independence skills needed for a successful transition to kindergarten.
Our preschool participates in Hillsborough County's Quality Early Education System (QEES), providing teachers with coaching and professional development opportunities.
Children learn in an environment that promotes Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
We work closely with families to support every child's growth and development.
VPK at Morgan Woods
Full-Day Preschool Program with Free VPK

- Free Breakfast, Lunch and Snack

- School Readiness accepted to significantly reduce cost.

VPK at Additional YMCA Locations
The Tampa YMCA is expanding its Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program to two more locations—Bob Sierra and Central City Family YMCAs! These full-day programs provide a nurturing, educational environment with engaging curriculum, licensed staff and plenty of opportunities for academic and social-emotional growth.
Full-day enrollment is required at these locations. Families using a VPK voucher will pay the wrap-around rate for the remaining hours not covered by the voucher. See wrap-around rates below.

Yes. Florida VPK is provided at no cost to eligible families.
