Group Exercise Classes

Check out types of group exercise classes at 13 Tampa YMCA locations.

Cardio

Increase your heart rate with cardio classes! Based on the type of class, cardio exercise classes include jumping jacks, running, jumping, kickboxing, and dancing. Bootcamp, Cycling, Les Mills BodyCombat, Les Mills RPM, and Zumba classes offer a fun take on cardio exercise. Members can try Cycling or BodyCombat for low-impact cardio workout.

Cycling

Go on an adventure during your workout! Cycling is a popular group exercise class with high-energy music. Beginners and experienced cyclists will experience challenging climbs to test strength and endurance. Ride at your own pace and control the intensity of your ride by increasing or decreasing the tension on the bike.

Les Mills

Les Mills classes are choreographed fitness programs taught by trained instructors. The Tampa Y offers Les Mills classes at 12 locations and all types of workouts including: yoga-based BodyBalance, BodyPump for strength training, martial arts-based BodyCombat for full bodya cardio (non-contact mixed martial arts), CXWorx 30-minute core strength, BodyAttack for strength and endurance, BodyStep for cardio and more!

Strength Training

Strength training is important for metabolism and overall wellness. Challenging strength training can help control weight, improve balance, keep joints flexible and improve bone and muscle strength. Try Les Mills BodyPump, CxWorx and other total body toning classes using weights, barbells and bodyweight to strengthen your body.

Water Fitness

Exercising in the pool has never been more fun! Instructors perform movements on land while participants exercise in the pool. Water exercise classes are low-impact and easy on joints. Tampa Y pools are heated year-round and as long as it’s not too cold and there is no lightning nearby, class is in session!

Yoga & Pilates

Connect your mind, body and spirit through Yoga, Pilates, and Barre classes. Measured breathing combined with stretching and mental focus is the foundation of yoga and Pilates. Regardless of ability, research has shown practicing yoga regularly increased energy levels, lower blood pressure, improved memory, better balance, and a greater sense of calm.

Members can take the group exercise wellness orientation, Introduction to Group Exercise, a 45-minute session covering the equipment and basic movements in group classes. Contact your neighborhood YMCA for the schedule and to make an appointment.
