American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Lifeguards are brave, responsible, and confident in and around water, and it's not just a job at the Y. Lifeguard Certification is great for parents, guardians and adults of all ages who want to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Successful participants become certified and may apply to be a Tampa Y lifeguard and rule the pool all year long.

Prepare for the physical portion of the lifeguard certification prerequisites test with the new American Red Cross Lifeguard Prep Course. Certified Lifeguard Trainers help teens and adults build endurance and strength and focus on skills needed to achieve lifeguard certification prerequisites. Participants will learn proper swim techniques and build stamina during this course.

The Junior Guard program at the Y is a leadership program for teens ages 14 and 15. Participants learn the skills required earn a lifeguard certification and have the opportunity to work in the Aquatics environment.

Water Safety is a priority for the Tampa Y.
