The great thing about Y supporters is that they don’t just give back to the Y, they give back to the community as a whole. Case in point…adaptive members from the New Tampa Family YMCA came together to raise money for Buddy Baseball, a local nonprofit for those with special needs.    Last month, Y members facing physical and cognitive challenges helped the cause by participating in a one mile walk/run at Wilderness Park. “Most of them have never done a community walk/run before,” shares New Tampa Y Adaptive Coordinator Kass Pilczuk. “They all finished with a proud smile. One, Richard, always walks with a walker. I encouraged him to try without it and he did the entire mile unassisted.”   “Team Y” not only accomplished their personal goals that day, they also made the Tampa Y very proud! The same team is already training to do another community run next January.   The Y is committed to developing strength in spirit, mind and body for all. Our adaptive programs help children, teens and adults of all abilities benefit from physical activity and group interaction. The New Tampa Y, in particular, offers a full-range of adaptive programming including art, basketball, aquatics and an adult wellness program.
