Thirteen-year-old Ava Rodriguez recently showcased her talent and determination at the 2025 USA Gymnastics Region 8 Xcel Regional Championship, held in Cartersville, Georgia.

A dedicated athlete and incoming high school freshman, Ava trains as a member of the North Brandon Family YMCA’s Top Flight gymnastics program — a team she’s proudly represented for the past five seasons.

In preparation for Regionals, Ava and her coach, Leilani, devoted countless hours to perfecting her routines. Their commitment and teamwork were evident on the competition floor, as Ava delivered a strong performance across all events. Her results reflect both her skill and composure under pressure:

  • 4th place on Floor Exercise with an impressive score of 9.55
  • 8th place on Balance Beam with a solid 9.4
  • 9th place on Vault scoring 9.25

These top-10 finishes at a prestigious regional event highlight Ava's continued growth as a gymnast and competitor.
Ava shares, “My goal this past season was to qualify for regionals, so actually being able to do it means that all the hours in the gym paid off.”

Known for her grace, power and unwavering focus, Ava dreams of continuing her gymnastics journey at the collegiate level. Her top-choice universities include UCLA and Auburn, both renowned for their elite gymnastics programs and supportive athletic communities.

As Ava sets her sights on high school and beyond, her journey serves as an inspiration to young athletes across our Y community. Her recent success at Regionals is a testament not only to her talent, but to her resilience, hard work and the support of those who believe in her.

We’re incredibly proud of all she’s accomplished and can’t wait to cheer her on as she flips, flies and thrives toward an even brighter future.
