Tampa YMCA Becomes The Newest Partner of the YMCA Survivorship & Wellness Program Powered by Moffitt

June is National Cancer Survivor Month, a time to celebrate the strength and resilience of those affected by cancer and recognize the challenges survivors continue to face.
In honor of this important month, the Tampa YMCA proudly announced the launch of the YMCA Survivorship & Wellness Program Powered by Moffitt in May 2025.
This transformational partnership brings together the YMCA’s legacy of promoting community health with the renowned expertise of Moffitt Cancer Center in oncology and survivorship care. This free, 12-week program supports individuals before, during and after treatment through safe physical activity, social connection and guidance from certified cancer wellness coaches. It is offered twice weekly at multiple Tampa YMCA locations.
The YMCA Survivorship & Wellness Program Powered by Moffitt combines community health and leading oncology expertise. Early research from this collaboration — including Project RALLY, a pickleball-based fitness initiative, and NOURISH, a nutrition pilot — shows promising results in improving survivors' well-being.
Since October 2023, 95 survivors have completed the program through the YMCA of the Suncoast. With expansion across 11 Tampa YMCA centers, it's expected to reach over 150 cancer survivors annually, with a goal of serving more than 300 survivors in the first two years.
“We’re thrilled about this partnership,” said Dawn Kita, the Tampa YMCA’s Operations Director of Community Health. “Uniting our brands across the Bay Area and aligning the Moffitt name and expertise with our Cancer Survivor Program not only elevates our visibility but also brings invaluable resources to our leadership, coaches, and participants. This collaboration sets a new standard for the quality and impact of survivorship support.”
This June, and every month, we celebrate survivors and reaffirm our commitment to helping them heal, grow and thrive.
