The chilly weather didn’t stop the giving spirit this Thanksgiving. More than 4,000 generous supporters participated in the 4th Annual Goody Goody™ Turkey Gobble 5K, 8K and 1-Mile Run/Walk to support the Tampa Y’s LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program.   The record-breaking participation raised more than $66,000 for the TampaY’s 12-week program offering people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities.A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved,” says Wellness Experience Executive Jenny Beadle. “The day was truly spectacular and definitely our best yet!”   “There were runners, joggers, strollers, dogs, kids, babies and even a few seniors who crossed the finish line with their medical walkers,” recalls Membership Experience Executive Heather Solomon. “As each person crossed you could see triumph on their face. You could feel a story behind their drive to run/walk that day. As the very last person jogged the home stretch, a crowd of people gathered together and cheered her on to the finish line. It was the loudest the crowd had been the whole race. It was a quintessential Y moment. It was pure magic.”   In addition to serving as title sponsor, Goody Goody™ also graciously provided free hot breakfast to all registered participants at the Amalie Arena. Thank you to Goody Goody and all our sponsors, volunteers, staff and participants for bettering the community while bettering their health!
