Tampa, FL (August 4, 2025) - The Tampa YMCA is excited to announce the launch of its VPK program for the 2025–2026 school year, starting August 11, 2025, at YMCA Camp Sierra and the Central City Family YMCA.

This initiative is part of Florida’s free, state-funded VPK program designed to prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten and beyond.

“Every child deserves access to a strong start,” said Tonina Rodriguz, Director of Operations for Early Learning at the Tampa YMCA.

“Our VPK program provides the foundation children need to thrive in kindergarten and throughout their academic journey.”

Led by certified, caring teachers, our VPK classrooms foster a nurturing, high-quality environment that supports each child’s growth. Using the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, children engage in hands-on learning experiences that build critical skills in early literacy, math and social-emotional development. This program supports kindergarten readiness through playful exploration, laying the groundwork for academic and social success.

Eligible families must have a parent or guardian who resides in Florida at the time of the child’s attendance, and the child must turn four years old on or before September 1, 2025.

While the state-funded VPK voucher covers 540 hours per year (approximately 3 hours per day), full-day enrollment is required at these locations. Families using a VPK voucher will pay the wrap-around rate for the remaining hours not covered by the voucher.

The wrap-around rates for three-year-olds turning four by September 1, 2025, are $141/week for members and $186/week for non-members. For children ages four and five, the wrap-around rates for members are $125/week and $155/week for non-members.
