Veggie Van 10th year anniversary.

TAMPA, FL (July 22, 2025) – On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, YMCA staff, donors, partners and community members will gather to celebrate a decade of the Veggie Van delivering fresh produce, dignity and connection to neighborhoods across the Tampa Bay region.

What began as a bold idea to combat food insecurity has grown into a trusted, mobile force for wellness and community transformation.

“From just five original stops to now 21 stops, including 11 sites dedicated to seniors, the Veggie is a marketplace on wheels, rooted in equity and care,” said Elizabeth Roman, Senior Director of Mobile Programs for the Tampa YMCA.

As the Veggie Van marks this milestone, the YMCA is also looking ahead. “We are proud to launch two new initiatives that will further our mission of meeting people where they are,” Elizabeth shared. “Pound of Fresh and Y on the Fly will debut in 2026, expanding our reach and continuing to support the health and wellness of our neighbors.”

The anniversary celebration will be held in the Gymnasium of the Bob Gilbertson Central City Family YMCA, and all are welcome to join in commemorating this important milestone in the journey toward a healthier, more equitable Tampa Bay.
