Y staff and members of our newly-formed Employee Resource Group (ERG), the LGBTQIA+ Resource Network marched in Tampa Pride’s Diversity Parade, which lined the historic streets of Ybor City to large crowds on May 22nd, 2021.

Last month, staff, along with their friends and family, proudly represented the Tampa Y by participating in Tampa Pride’s Diversity Parade to advance our Y movement and reinforce our inclusive and equitable initiatives.

“Our involvement was planned and organized by our Employee Resource Group (ERG), the LGBTQIA+ Resource Network. I would like to thank everyone for their participation and support. The event was a huge success as we were received very well by the community with our message of, “The Y is for ALL!” This is, however, just the beginning. There is more work to do and fun to be had while we celebrate our colorful differences and empower pride,” says Spurlino Family YMCA Executive Director and ERG’s (Employee Resource Group) Executive Champion Jarrod Williams.

The Y is committed to building a more equitable community where ALL of our neighbors feel safe and secure and where everyone can reach their full potential with dignity. In a diverse world, we are stronger when we are inclusive, when our doors are open to all and when everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Tampa Pride parade was the 6th annual Tampa Pride Diversity Parade and was covered by WFTS Tampa Bay. For more photos, visit the Tampa Y Facebook page.
