Spend Thanksgiving morning with us! You are invited to the ninth annual Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble presented by AdventHealth on November 23, 2023, starting at 7am at the Plaza at Amalie Arena. One of our signature events, the 5k and 1-mile fun-run is a fundraiser for the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program, which helps cancer patients, survivors and their families across our Association. And, if you are still unsure about attending, we want you to meet Molly Neurether, a LIVESTRONG® participant, who recently graduated from the program. Molly was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer in 2020, multiple surgeries later, she was in recovery. The following year, her husband of 30 years was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within seven weeks. Her cancer came back too.
"I kept telling myself that 2023 had to be better. So, I signed up at the Campo YMCA. It was just what I needed. As I heard everyone's story, I knew I had found my tribe," recalled Molly at the graduation ceremony.
"Erin Langlo, our LIVESTRONG® coach at the Campo Y was amazing. Her encouragement brought my confidence back up. I have a military background; she helped me slow down. I always looked forward to the next class. LIVESTRONG® is a community. Looking at us, you wouldn't know what we've been through. It's an escape. LIVESTRONG® is making a difference. Please keep doing what you're doing," Molly emphasized.
"Keep doing what you're doing." Thanks, Molly. We will continue to work hard, and one day we will defeat cancer - together.
