Jason Jones will remember August 22, 2024, for many reasons – coming full circle with the Plant City Family YMCA is one of those. A well-known local community leader and one the Plant City Y is delighted to honor with their annual Strong Leader Award – Jason Jones will be celebrated next week at the Trinkle Center in Plant City at 6:30 pm.
The prestigious Plant City Y award honors a community leader annually for "echoing the Y's commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility."
Jason began his volunteering journey with the Plant City Y Board, eventually becoming the Board Chair. He has been a Plant City Y member for over 15 years. Recently named the Vice Mayor of the Plant City Commission, Jason owns Advantage Restoration & Contracting. He and his wife, Casey have three children: Noah, Mia Rose, and Layla.
Beyond his commission duties, Jason serves on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, Ridge League of Cities, and as an alternate on the Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization. He established Plant City’s first Youth Leadership Commission to educate high school students about local government and leadership skills, demonstrating his commitment to community and youth empowerment.
Jason is deeply involved in community service and has held numerous leadership roles. He has served as Chair of the Plant City Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Timucua District of the Boy Scouts of America. His extensive volunteer work includes participation in the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA Oversight Committee, Plant City Veteran’s Week Committee, and Plant City Lions Club. He remains active with the Plant City Chamber of Commerce, BayCare’s St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Investment Committee, and other local organizations. Jason also founded and chairs the annual Planes, Trains, and Automobiles event at the Plant City Airport, showcasing his dedication to community engagement and leadership.
Theresa Sessions, Executive Director, Plant City Family YMCA notes Jason “more than deserves the honor because of his relentless dedication to family and community. The impact he has on our community is immeasurable, spanning years and a variety of connection points throughout our community.”
