February is Black History Month, a time to remember and celebrate the Black leaders who have helped move the Y and America forward in our collective journey to advance inclusion and equity for all. The Tampa Y and the YMCA of the USA African American Resource Network (AARN) invite you to join us for We Wear Black on Feb 24, and take a stand against all forms of injustice and racism.

The Y-USA’s AARN cast a vision in 2020, responding to the societal awakening to systemic racism, imploring all Ys to become anti-racist, multicultural organizations that intentionally lead and boldly model diverse and inclusive cultures that impact and strengthen the foundations of our communities.

The YMCA’s We Wear Black day activities and initiatives include:

  • Wear a black shirt, accessory or outfit on Friday, Feb. 24
  • Post a picture on social media with the hashtag #WeWearBlack
  • Participate in the AARN event! We Wear Black Virtual Event

We Wear Black to bring awareness to systemic racism and oppression of Black people in the United States and around the globe.

Please join us as we take a stand against racism and work to create a Y and community that is for all!
