The Tampa YMCA and Tampa Bay Lightning Celebrate a Powerful First Year of “Patch with a Purpose”

The Tampa YMCA and Tampa Bay Lightning have officially wrapped up an incredible first year of Patch with a Purpose, our partnership that has strengthened community connections, celebrated local families and elevated awareness of the Y’s life-changing programs. 

Throughout the season, the partnership brought the Y’s mission to life in exciting ways. With exclusive arena signage, merchandise branding, social media and more, the Y’s presence was proudly showcased to thousands of fans across Tampa Bay. 

Through special Y Nights, the Lightning shone a spotlight on YMCA programs, including the Thrivers Club, part of our YMCA Survivorship & Wellness Program, which empowers pediatric cancer survivors through fitness and connection, and Operation Strong Families, which provides essential support to military families. These dedicated game nights helped amplify our stories while uniting fans around a shared goal of strengthening the community we all call home.

Beyond the excitement of game nights, PSAs and donations from the partnership helped more families access Y programs, opening doors to swim lessons, youth sports and wellness opportunities across our community. Before select games, Y members, families and the community were able to experience YMCA games and fitness challenges in Thunder Alley, connecting them directly to the excitement of the team and the YMCA. 

And the fun didn’t stop at the arena. Through floor hockey programs hosted at select YMCA centers, the Lightning helped bring the excitement of the game to local kids, teaching them teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence along the way. YMCA members also receive exclusive pre-sale ticket opportunities for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Gasparilla Bowl, the Jonas Brothers, Disney on Ice and Monster Jam. 

As the first year of Patch with a Purpose ended, the Tampa YMCA and Tampa Bay Lightning were proud to celebrate a season defined by purpose, partnership and the power of community. Together, we’ve built more than memories; we’ve built momentum. And we’re just getting started. We can’t wait to cheer on the Bolts and continue making an even greater impact together in year two of this incredible partnership.
